Tips for Creating a Great Loom Video
Welcome to Loom!
Loom is a free-to-use (with upgrade options) application to record short videos featuring screengrab and face recording. Common uses of our technology are short presentations that take the place of a typical meeting and making short tutorial videos on a variety of tech tools. Here are a few tips on how to fully utilize our product.
Record a video!
Although there is an option to get rid of the face recording portion of Loom, we think that it is a great way to make your video more personal. Without this, a video can seem cold and impersonal. We also find that having facial expressions can really help your audience better understand the message that you’re trying to get across. On the topic of face recording, we have a few suggestions for making a high-quality video. We suggest using a plain backdrop with a uniform color. It’s important to have you be the star, not a distracting background. You can use inexpensive LED lights that attach to your computer that will make your video really pop.
Speaker Notes Function
We know that memorizing lines and talking points can be tough when recording an educational video. To remedy this, we have a function on the Loom desktop app called Speaker Notes. It’s a small note pad which is a perfect place for talking points or even a small script! This will really help you out because you can glance at your notes while recording and it won’t show up in your final video.
Take a few practice runs
There are no time limits or video limits on Loom. Take your time and go through your video a few times. There is no need to use your first take if it’s not exactly what you need. Once you have a few takes recorded, you can even use our easy-to-use editing tools to create a finalized video that includes sections from different takes.
